TRAVEL
The fastest way to come is by domestic flight. There are flights from San Jose or Liberia to Tambor (TMU). It takes about 25 minutes to Tambor and costs around 90$ one way.
There is a wonderful new green airline we recommend flying with as a portion of their ticket prices goes to support reforestation projects and this airline also offers a more flexible and customized service: https://partner.costaricagreenair.com/montezuma-yoga/
You can also fly down with the domestic airline www.flysansa.com.
Please book in advance!
From Tambor airport it is another 30 minutes by taxi, which we will be happy to arrange for you. Cost for Taxi Tambor-Hotel Los Mangos is 40$ one way.
Ground Transportation from San Jose:
You can also come by shuttle service from San Jose and this option takes about 5-6 hours of which 1 1/2 are on a ferry. www.montezumaexpeditions.com
Or https://tropicaltourshuttles.com/
They also offer transfer packs incl. hotel. Their schedule is on the website.
You can also book a transfer via Jaco by shuttle and speedboat through www.zumatours.net, which takes about 3-4 hours.
The cheapest way here is the direct bus, leaving twice daily from/to San Jose/ Montezuma. It leaves San Jose at 6am and 2pm, and leaves from Montezuma at 6:30am and 2:15pm.
No visa is required for Costa Rica for most countries.
We strongly advise on the purchase of travel insurance at the time of booking your package in the case of any unexpected events or changes to your plans before or during your trip.
You need to book your own domestic travel, but we are happy to send you a taxi for pick up in Tambor if you decide to go for this option (see domestic travel).

ACTIVITIES
There are mats available for you, but if you prefer your own it’s a good idea to bring it. We have 20 blocks and straps available and you are welcome to use them. We don’t provide yoga towels.
Our classes are held at Playa Grande, a stunning beach within the Romelia National Wildlife Refuge.
Playa Grande is protected from the waves and currents of the open ocean, which allows the sandbar to be maintained all year round and thus guarantees good conditions for surfing.
(Other famous surf spots on the west side of the peninsula, like Santa Teresa / Mal Pais are facing the open pacific and are harder to surf, especially in the rainy season when the sand is washed away, and the stones come out.)
Please note that Playa Grande cannot be accessed by vehicles, which makes it also one of the last true pure untouched and protected paradise beaches, where you always just meet a handful other people. The only way to access Playa Grande is through a beautiful path along the beach, called “Sendero el Sueño Verde” (path of the green dream).
Our instructor will tell you lots of great stories about culture and history of our place, so the 25 min walk will be interesting, fun and easier every day. And no worries, our surf boards are stored at Refugio Romelia, so you just have to carry your personal items.
GENERAL
There is currently no ATM in Montezuma, so we recommend to bring cash. US dollars are accepted everywhere and there is no need to exchange into local currency at the airport. The next bank is 7 km away, so bring enough cash, which can be exchanged at the hotel. You get discounts in the shops for paying with cash, but credit cards are also accepted.
The water here is potable in most places and safe to drink. We also provide drinking water in the yoga studio and at the breakfast place for refills and encourage you to bring your own container, so that we don’t contribute to more plastic waste on our beaches and the planet. Thank you.
Sunscreen and beach towel (we don’t provide beach towels at the hotel),flip flops (the roads are mostly dirt roads, no asphalt). It is mostly warm at night, so no need for big sweaters. There are very few mosquitoes, but if you are sensitive bring a repellent or you can also buy it here.
