"Just over ten years ago, Dagmar came to my class at the newly-opened Virayoga and asked me if I'd ever be interested in teaching a yoga retreat. I'd never done so, it hadn't even crossed my mind. She told me she'd be opening a yoga studio down there and I'd be the first to lead a retreat group. I signed on for the adventure, and was forever grateful for that experience and the many that followed thereafter at Dagmar's haven. Ten years later, amidst hundreds of retreats annually in Costa Rica, Montezuma Yoga is one paradise that stands out among the rest. Dagmar and her team have a level of professionalism, hospitality and care that is unrivaled. The food on her retreats is always of a superb quality, nourishing and satisfying even to the most discriminating of clients, and of course the yoga pavilion boasts one of the most idyllic views on Earth. I'm proud to have been the first teacher at Montezuma Yoga, and I cannot wait to return. "

Tantra Vinyasa Retreat
with Banyan Gallagher
Explore the majesty of Montezuma, Costa Rica with Banyan Gallagher, one of the world's most sincere, genuine, dedicated, and lighthearted yogis. Never afraid to have a laugh and always prepared to challenge students on levels physical, mental, and energetic, Banyan is a warm soul whose presence offers a genuine calm to all those around him. Anyone who's spent time in the tutelage of this athlete/mustache competitor/performance artist/yogi/clown will speak to Banyan's capabilities as a teacher.
Two full sessions of yoga daily in the tantric tradition
This retreat will revolve around a deeper understanding of yoga and tantra, the ancient yogic science of techniques designed to help us overcome our limitations(think subtle fears and mental blocks, not just tight hamstrings!). Banyan’s deep and yet playful approach will inspire a loving self-inquiry and a new direction to your practice. All levels of student are welcome.
Each day we will have two sessions together.
The morning session, from 7-9 am, will be a more solar, physical practice to help us wake, detox and prepare for the day. The afternoon session, usually 5:30 - 7:30pm, will be on the more subtle side focusing on philosophy + discussion, breathwork, meditation, and inversions. The schedule is designed to maximize free time so we can explore everything the Nicoya Peninsula has to offer.
This will truly be a life-changing retreat, with a small, intimate group. Expect to leave more relaxed, stronger, invigorated and with more mental clarity on how to live your life to the fullest.
Join Philly Power Yoga as we retreat to Costa Rica for a week filled with yoga, surfing and connecting to whatever feeds us in the moment. We will begin and end each day with our signature style of yoga, as taught by Steve Gold and Sara Ronsvalle. Fresh, organic meals prepared daily by local restaurants will nourish you from the inside – out. And the undeniable energy of the Costa Rican “pura vida” spirit will no doubt ignite your own spirit.
“You have no idea how stressful your life is until you go on a retreat. When you stop; when everything gets still, it has an amazing impact on your yoga practice. You find yourself doing things on your mat you never thought possible.” – Steve Gold
If you’ve been curious about a yoga retreat, or already know the profound effects one can have on your practice, this is the time to join us. Mark your calendars and stay tuned in the coming weeks for full details.
Years ago in what now seems to be another life, Steve Gold, owner of Philly Power Yoga, worked behind a desk as a successful sales and marketing executive. Although success and wealth came quickly for Gold, his career path proved to be unfulfilling. Gold realized the most important wealth is health, and spent the next 17 years studying and practicing spiritual principles and lifestyle, including eight years with Baron Baptiste.
Gold’s primary goal when teaching to both his students and instructors is to be honest, real and accessible. He teaches that beginning with unhealthy baggage and habits are ok. Simply be still in the moment no matter how painful, and begin to reconnect with the real you.
For Sara, yoga is about constantly moving toward a greater connection with herself. It’s a tool that inspires and reminds her that the best of version of her self already lies within. Through both stillness and movement we practice listening to ourselves in the present moment. Whatever we hear is information we can use to make more authentic choices about how we want to live our lives. It is from this place, as a guide, Sara encourages others to trust the wisdom that resides within.
Sara is certified through the Nosara Yoga Institute in Nosara, Costa Rica and has received over 400 hours of training in yoga for both adults and children.

Carter Twitty has been studying with master teacher Sri Dharma Mittra sense 2008. Carter's life's work is to share as many of Sri Dharma's spiritual teachings and practical knowledge of yogic techniques as he can, to as many people as he can.
Carter: "Yoga is the most efficient set of techniques devoted to self-Realization we have. True yoga is an intelligent sequence of poses, breathing, and meditation. The poses work on our past, the breath brings us into our present, and meditation helps us create the future we chose. Linked with music curated to put the student in the correct physiological and emotional state, these classes will lead students to dynamic peak poses and peak experiences where they will feel a seemingly paradoxical combination of power and grace, of intensity and ease, and of experiences were self-consciousness is lost while a stronger sense of self emerges."

Enjoy gorgeous sea views from the yoga deck. and relax by the pool. Mornings will be a dynamic vinyasa flow practice with Dagmar and evenings will be sunset slow flow with Dagmar accompanied by Daniel playing the magical HANG instrument. The Hang music will support you to surrender and relax deeper into your breath and body, so you will flow effortlessly through your practice.
This retreat is designed to take you deeper into your practice as we move into stillness, become more aware, more sensitive & receptive to the beauty in our lives.
Music moves us. The powerful effects go far beyond the experiences found through sound and rhythm. It is discovering this deeper sense of harmony in the body that helps us to embrace and dance with the rhythmic flow of life. When we are with our lover our heartbeats sync. When we explore asanas, regulate our breath, and move to a rhythmic beat we sync together as one, creating a harmony as a whole. Practicing together with rhythm and sound assists us into a deeper experience of yoga. The ultimate goal of yoga, Enlightenment or Freedom, is for our self to be in sync with all that is. It is the dissolution of resistance where we are missing absolutely nothing.
This retreat is open to all levels
What will I learn:
- deepen your practice by learning to surrender into your breathing.
- create space in your body, when you feel spacious your mind will also relax and be more open
- explore new ways to nourish yourself on and off the mat
- celebrate stillness and be more comfortable and peaceful with your self
200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training with Banyan Gallagher,
with La Escuela Del Sol
"If you want to learn something, read about it. If you want to understand something, write about it. If you want to master something, teach it."
– Yogi Bhajan
By the end of this program, each participant will be certified and inspired to teach yoga as recognized by Yoga Alliance. The focus of our work together will be the art of teaching, or the manner in which we share what we learn about ourselves with others. We will emphasize learning to safely lead a successful, intelligent, and inspiring vinyasa class. To get there, we will immerse ourselves in a month of powerful practice and study, deepening our connection to yoga and transforming our lives. We'll build a strong foundation in breathwork, energy locks, mantra, and yoga philosophy to support us on this journey.
One year of previous yoga experience is preferred.
